Ray Williams – photographer, judge and teacher

Ray Williams, who was well known to many people around NSW as a member of the FCC, as President of the Hornsby Camera Club, as an FCC photographic judge and as a photography teacher, passed away suddenly on 20 September, 2024.

Ray had more than 35 years’ experience as commercial photographer working as a wedding photographer, for companies such as BT and British Home Stores in the UK, and for companies such as the NRMA, Commonwealth Bank, and Subway Restaurants in Australia.

Ray was a strong supporter of the view that all people can create beautiful photos with the right support.  He loved sharing his knowledge and expertise with budding photographers. His commitment to education was recognised by the Rotary Organisation which honoured him for his contribution to photography education.

As an FCC judge, Ray developed a well-deserved reputation for being an enthusiastic, considerate and positive judge, giving valuable feedback to beginners and experienced photographers alike.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially the members of his beloved Hornsby Camera Club.

Ray is survived by his wife Jayne and their children Daniel, Shanel and Tiffany.

Many Clubs had booked Ray in as a judge. If there are any problems finding a replacement, please contact nswfccsecretary@gmail.com.
